Watermelon Tales
This song is one of our oldest and it has been given new life with the addition of strings. Steve’s on viola and Rob’s on cello. Chuck plays acoustic guitar and sings.
There came pirates on the first green wave the sun escorted in
Looking for larger problems just the moment they’d begin.
Oh swim and fight or sink and die till the ending of the day.
A lazy fool you’d surely be to find another way.
Long forgotten vessels are creaking in their sleep
Far below less what once died, buried in the deep.
A ship of fools this jolly earth, going round a few more times
It’s just a ride that may soon end on which we’re surely tied.
And an Old Snail rests by a road spinning Watermelon Tales
Of castles green and waterfalls and light that never fails.
And a few men live for rivers which lead to many dreams
And pray for the others, who reason to dry the dying streams.
So when the piper brings the sun to life and the moon does float away
In the fields we might work and our children surely play.
Then with the evening we will rest as the stars all in the trees
A sitting and a singing, planting watermelon seeds.
